DIY Flower Crowns
Let’s face it. Flower crowns are no longer just for flower girls in weddings. We see them everywhere and we LOVE it! From backyard parties, bohemian styled brides, music festivals, family photoshoots, and more. Flower crowns are having a serious moment and we want you to be part of the fun.
Supplies Needed
- Floral cutters and scissors
- Floral tape
- Light gauge wire
- Wired twine
- Your choice of California grown flowers
*We chose Gypsophila (Baby’s Breath), Spray Roses, Queen Anne’s lace, and Seeded Eucalyptus.
Step one
Size the individuals head and trim wire accordingly. Be sure to leave a little extra at the end so that you can add a ribbon later. For extra stability we doubled the twine and then twisted it into shape.
Step Two
Create a base of greenery by taping or wiring it onto the wired twine.
Step Three
Using the same technique, add your flowers in any design of your choice.
Step Four
Finally, take the ends of the crown and bend the wired twine into small loops. Thread a ribbon of choice through each loop and fit accordingly. Once you’ve sized it correctly, tie it off with a bow. Now you’re ready to rock your photoshoot or concert!
Below are some other options that we hope will inspire your own creativity. There is no right or wrong way to design a crown so if you have a new dress or a new hairstyle that just begs for a flower crown, go for it! Break the “rules” and add textured components that are out of the ordinary to create something extraordinary. But most importantly, have fun.
