A Suspended Wedding Arch

Weddings these days are lending themselves to a more natural and organic feel. Most brides are choosing to move away from elaborate ceremony pieces and focus on nature’s bounty by keeping things simple and clean. One way to do this is by creating a suspended wedding arch. It’s actually fairly easy to do once you have the right tools and California Grown flowers.

What You’ll Need-

  • 10 foot PVC pipe or light weight curtain rod
  • Fishing line (25lb weight or more)
  • Ladder
  • Scissors
  • Floral Clippers
  • Zip Ties
  • California Grown Flowers

For this project we used a mixture of Spiral and Silver Dollar Eucalyptus (from my backyard), peach Roses, hot pink Spray Roses, white Veronica, and peach Gerbera Daisies.

Getting Started-

We rented a 10×10 pipe and drape set from a local event company and added white chiffon draping as our backdrop. You can choose any type of backdrop that goes with your style or décor though, so get creative and have fun!

Step One-

We used a light weight and inexpensive curtain rod to use as our base to hang the flowers off of. We secured it with fishing line to help hide the mechanics of things. Once it was level we were ready to add our flowers.

Step Two-

After deciding our pattern, we gathered our flowers in sections and tied them with fishing line at the ends. Each bunch was different which lends itself to a more natural look.

Step Three-

We secured each bunch of our California Grown flowers to the curtain rod.   You can pick any pattern you want so feel free to practice the placement of the flowers before securing them.

Be sure to cut any excess fishing line off so it doesn’t show.

Step Four-

We added Silver Dollar Eucalyptus to the top of the curtain rod to hide the mechanics and it also added a more natural vibe to overall scheme.

Step Five-

Now you’re ready to get hitched and say “I DO”.
